Click through some of the Chapters and see the 60 Events that are already set-up for you.
Find a pdf or scan in a document that you want to upload to one of the set-up Events. Name the document using the format ‘Address of building – what the document is – date of the document’.
Go to the relevant Chapter and Log First Review. Set the next Event Review date and upload the document.

Permanent framed signage is available to signpost people to your Building Handbook and to the Handbook Manager. This sign can be screwed into position at the entrance to your building. Most people place the sign next to the fire alarm panel. Extra signs can be fixed into position in Plant Rooms.
How Does It Work?
BuildingHandbook.com is a secure, online data store with calendar reminders. It is the place to keep all your statutory and operational data. Your Building Handbook is split into 24 intuitive chapters – covering everything from Asbestos to Water.
Within each Chapter are pre-set Events that allow you to set automatic reminders for important deadlines. We have set-up 100 Events for you that cover most aspects of a commercial or domestic building. You can also create your own Custom Events for things like lease renewals. Email reminders are automatically sent to you in advance warning you of up coming Event Reviews.
Other documents and files that do not require a calendar reminder can be uploaded and saved within each Chapter. There is also a Notes section to record useful information that you wish to remember.
When you add new data to an Event you can set the Review frequency yourself from monthly site checks to 10-year valid Energy Performance Certificates.
Building Handbook also allows you to add a Procurement Note. This acts as your ‘corporate memory’ so you remember which contractor to use next time, and what to do (and not do!) next time. This permanent record will help you and your colleagues in the years to come.
The Year Planner allows you to see Event Reviews that are coming up in the future so you can plan ahead. The Year Planner shows you want has been completed, what is overdue and what is coming up.
BuildingHandbook.com is controlled by a single person called the Handbook Manager. This can be anyone in your organisation and requires no training. The Handbook Manager can allow other individuals to access the Handbook with either the right to Add & Edit or just Read Only. The role of Handbook Manager can be transferred to another person at any time.
To get started just scan in the hardcopy inspection certificates and documents that you have and load them up against the relevant Event. Your can also upload existing pdfs, Word and Excel file, plans and photos.
At any time download this data and simply print off a hardcopy. You can also easily email the data directly from the Handbook to the people who need it.
The All Events function allows you to look at all your Event Reviews at a glance and to see what is up-to-date, out-of-date and not yet started. You can very quickly see what you’ve done and importantly, what you’ve not done.
